Palma de Mallorca Highlights: From Beach Club Vibes to Local Gems

UM Beach Club

I treated my sister to a special lunch at UM Beach Mallorca. Of course, I couldn’t let my American Express Platinum Dining credit go to waste! You just need to save the offer to your card and pay as usual. One important note: you must use the main cardholder’s credit card. In my case, that meant bringing my husband’s card. But otherwise, there’s nothing else to worry about. I love how seamless it is—no awkward explanations needed. Just swipe and enjoy!

UM Beach Mallorca

The restaurant location is beautiful with sea views. The staff is very friendly and service is outstanding.

UM Beach Mallorca

I'm not a huge fan of staying at beach clubs, but I do enjoy their lively environment. So this was the perfect combination for me. The beach club is just by the restaurant and it wasn’t very busy. So a very enjoyable vibe. There was a DJ playing but again, nothing extremely loud. Around lunchtime, it’s still suitable for children, but after 2 PM, it becomes more of an adult environment. (To be fair, my kids wouldn’t eat anything from there anyway!), but there was a couple with 2 babies.

The location is Ctra. Andratx, km 11, 07181, Illes Balears and if you are staying in Palma you can get the Bus 104 or 105. It’s around 15min but the bus has air conditioning and the public transport in Palma is phenomenal. People rarely use cars, also because for residents, transport in the city is free.

When leaving the bus stop in the direction to the Beach club, you will have a beautiful walking path, and of course I could only think of my children because there’s play areas during the whole path. During lunch time I believe it should be fine to take children but after 2pm I don’t think it’s an environment for children. And my children wouldn’t eat anything from there anyway!

We ordered paella and drinks. The food was reasonably priced, though the cocktails were quite expensive for Mallorca—still cheaper than UK prices though!

My sister lives here, so she knows the best local spots. I always prefer to eat and explore like a local—it makes the experience so much richer.

100 Montaditos

We also stopped at 100 Montaditos, a popular chain known for its amazing prices—just by Plaza de España.

El Corte Inglés

Of course, we had to pop into El Corte Inglés for a bit of shopping! The store has a mix of John Lewis and Harrods vibes. Highly recommend it!

Palma Cathedral

Palma Cathedral is simply breathtaking—the views, the lake, and especially the palm trees (I’m slightly obsessed with them, they make me so happy!). There’s also a lovely play area near the Cathedral, where families were soaking up the sun and enjoying picnics.

Play Areas

Spain is generally very child-friendly, and Palma is no exception. There are plenty of playgrounds, green spaces, and great accessibility for pushchairs. I can’t wait to return with the kids!
