We always have two types of people here: those with a million Avios and complete beginners. We love you both! But I must confess, I really love bringing people into this amazing world of points and miles and showing them how to earn on their everyday spending.
And most importantly, without overspending! It makes me SO happy to help you earn points and fly for nearly nothing because of it.
That’s why I’m starting a new series all about everyday points. And with the recent changes to Uber and Uber Eats, it felt like the perfect place to start.
Step 1: Link Uber to your British Airways Club account
First, you can link your Uber account to your British Airways Club account. It only takes a minute, and you only need to do it once. Here’s how:
- Open the Uber app and tap Account
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to Rewards
- Choose British Airways Club and link your account
Make sure the name on your Uber account matches the name on your Avios account, or it won’t link! One link covers both Uber rides and Uber Eats, so there’s nothing else to set up.
How many Avios you earn on Uber Eats
Every time you order on Uber Eats, you earn 1 Avios per £1 on orders of £25 or more, not counting fees. The Friday night takeaway just became part of your next holiday!
How many Avios you earn on Uber rides
The earning rates on rides changed in June 2026, so it’s worth knowing which rides earn and which don’t. Here’s what you earn now:
- 3 Avios per £1 on Uber Reserve (pre-booked rides). FYI: This will have an additional cost, so not really worth it in my opinion.
- 2 Avios per £1 on airport trips, Uber Comfort, XL, Exec, Lux and black cabs.
- 2 Avios per £1 on train tickets booked in the app, including Eurostar.
Heads up: a standard UberX ride no longer earns Avios, unless it’s a trip to or from the airport or you’ve booked it with Reserve.
The best part: supermarket points on Uber Eats
Before, you wouldn’t earn your Nectar or Clubcard points when you ordered those few bits you forgot from your last food shop. But now YOU CAN! You can add your loyalty card to Uber Eats and earn points every time you shop.
Tesco: link your Clubcard from the Tesco Express page on Uber Eats. You get Clubcard Prices on your order and earn Clubcard points too.

Sainsbury’s: link your Nectar account from the Sainsbury’s page. You’ll unlock Nectar Prices and collect Nectar points on your order. And remember, Nectar points can be converted into Avios!

Waitrose: you can also link your My Waitrose membership, so your Waitrose orders count towards your member benefits too. Having the Waitrose membership active is great for free coffee! And if I need some fruits and veggies only, ordering from waitrose quite often guarantees a better quality imo.

Boots: you could already link your Boots Advantage Card and earn Advantage Card points on your Boots orders through Uber. Now it sits alongside all the others.

My tip: free Uber One with Revolut Metal
With my Revolut Metal plan, I get a free Uber One membership. That means I don’t pay delivery fees on eligible orders, and the other fees are a lot lower too. To get this benefit, you do have to pay with your Revolut debit card. But it’s absolutely worth it, and you still earn your Avios through the linked British Airways Club account, plus your Nectar or Clubcard points. I have a full review of revolut metal plan here.
Why this matters
Small amounts? Yes. But that’s the magic of everyday points: they quietly add up while you live your normal life.
This is a very positive step for us Avios-obsessed people, in my opinion. Your takeaway, your trips to the airport and even that emergency pint of milk can now all bring your next family holiday a little closer.
Have you linked yours yet? Tell me in the comments! And follow along for the next everyday points tip.
